Master Tony Miller, accompanied by his wife Sue, the Immediate Pastmaster, Renter Warden, and the Assistant Clerk were delighted to join the congregation on Friday 2nd October, at St Botolph-without-Bishopsgate for the Church’s annual Animal Blessing Service.
Held each year in early October, close to the Feast of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, the service is a much-loved occasion celebrating the special bond between people and their animal companions.
The service was led by Fr David, with Freddie, the church’s resident dog, playing his customary part. The congregation was treated to choral music from the church choir, followed by individual blessings for each animal companion. The occasion concluded with refreshments for both pets and their human companions, providing a fittingly warm and convivial end to this much-enjoyed annual service.
We were delighted to also be joined by two horses and their riders from our most recent affiliate - the City of London Police Mounted Division - who had their own special blessing from Fr David in the grounds of the Church.
