Yesterday, the Company held its final Court Meeting of 2025, at which two new Freemen were formally admitted. We are delighted to extend our congratulations and a warm welcome to them both.

Major Derek Twigg has been associated with the Coopers since his time as Company Commander of No. 2 Company, City of London and North East Sector Army Cadet Force, and was admitted as an Associate of the Company in November 2023. Having since stepped down as Commanding Officer, Major Twigg was keen to maintain his connection with the Company, and we are pleased to welcome him as a Freeman.

Els Housley is the granddaughter of the late Past Master Michael Housley (Master 1995–1996) and the daughter of Liveryman Richard Housley. She was admitted by lineage, having been born after her father became a Liveryman of the Coopers—a rare distinction and one of which she may be justly proud. Els is enthusiastic about continuing her family’s longstanding association with the Company.

Following the meeting, Members of the Court were pleased to be joined by eight Pastmasters of the Company, including Pastmaster Ian Luder, former Lord Mayor of London, who was seated beneath his portrait from his term of office in 2008–2009. We were also joined by the three Independent Trustees of the Coopers’ Company CIO, whom we were pleased to thank for their commitment, time, and valued contributions over the past year.
