We trust all Coopers members and many others with a City of London connection will have this date firmly fixed in their diaries! The fourth Annual Cask Race will take place in Guildhall Yard on Saturday 21st June with practice from 8.30am and racing starting at 9.30am. It is anticipated racing will have finished by 1pm after which there will be post-event drinks at The Counting House pub on Cornhill.
26 teams have entered from fellow livery companies, Coopers Company & Coborn School, Strode’s College and our uniformed affiliates in St John Ambulance, HMS President and the Household Cavalry Regiment and not forgetting a team of Yeoman Warders from the Tower of London. Expect some friendly competition – everyone wants to win!
This is a family event for all Coopers, families and friends which is a celebration of the Cooperage craft and all those involved with the Coopers’ Company. Don’t forget there is a ‘Mini Coopers’ event for children and grandchildren of Coopers’ members who are welcome to come and try rolling a firkin cask – no worries if they change their mind on the day.
The casks will be blessed by Liveryman Rev. Canon Martin Poll before racing commences which will be started by the Lady Mayoress who will also be found in a team this year. Marshalling will be provided by Coopers' Honorary Assistants.
‘New’ for 2026 is a prize for the Best Dressed team which could also prove to be most competitive!
All Coopers, families, friends are welcome to join us in Guildhall Yard when we will extend a big Coopers’ welcome to all other teams and general spectators.
The event is sponsored by Hook Norton Brewery.
Photos will be taken and we will assume you are happy for us to use event photos for marketing purposes, unless you tell us otherwise. Please let an organiser know if this is the case.
